Meet the New Members of the MX2 series

The new MX2 variants offer unprecedented solution to meet the growing demand for matrices large enough to allow easy signal switching between an extensive number of sources and displays, at a reasonable price-point.

Lightware is proud to announce the debut of three new members to the acclaimed MX2 product family to further expand the variety and the possibilities offered by our unrivalled range of matrix switchers.

Following in the footsteps of the MX2 product range, these new devices expand the 4K UHD@60Hz HDMI 2.0 signal extending capability to 48x48 and 32x32 crosspoint sizes whilst the 32x32 DH variant also allows DisplayPort 1.2 connectivity on a 32x32 matrix size, a feature that no other manufacturer could match so far.

When Size (and Price) Matters

Traditionally, matrix switchers with extensive crosspoint sizes come in modular format that offers great level of flexibility. However, this high flexibility also means a heftier price-tag, and experience shows that not every operation requires this amount of investment.

Lightware listened to the feedback from the market and focused on further developing our standalone matrix range to offer the best of both worlds; unparalleled matrix sizes and functionality combined with a cost-effective standalone edition.

From Corporate to Rental Application, and Everything in-Between

Consequently, these newly debuting MX2 variants make a perfect fit for a wide range of applications where the sheer number of in and output ports (either HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2) are great concern.

This is particularly true for rental operations where the new variants also thrive, offering genuine power supply redundancy via two individual Neutrik® PowerCON connectors.

The new MX2 variants don’t disappoint when it comes to representing a great variety of audio connections, offering a wide selection of audio ports as well as audio embedding and de-embedding feature.

DisplayPort 1.2 Connectivity

The MX2-32x32-DH-16DPi-A-R variant offers direct connection (on 16 input ports) from DisplayPort compatible sources to eliminate the need of additional adapters and dongles by automatically converting DisplayPort signals to HDMI 2.0 under its hood.

This is particularly useful when the device is installed in corporate environments or even in production houses that heavily rely on DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort and/or Thunderbolt 3 connectivity and fully utilizes the MX2’s sophisticated signal management that has the option to convert signals of 4:4:4 chroma subsampling into 4:2:2 whilst maintaining 10-bit color depth without sacrificing the HDR experience.

Innovative and Reliable

Beyond simplifying the procedure to design and build AV systems for a wide-range of operations, these three new variants doesn’t compromise on features that made the MX2 series so widely recognized and appreciated amongst industry professionals, such as the reliable diagnostics tools, troubleshooting processes and last but not least, the unrivalled ease-of-use of Lightware devices.

As a result of natural progression and on-going development of our standalone matrix line-up, the MX2-32x32-HDMI20-A-R, MX2-48x48-HDMI20-A-R and MX2-32x32-DH-16DPi-A-R are all designed to fill the gaps in the market and are intended to make life easier for industry professionals who install and operate AV matrices in any real-world application.
