The Forward Audio channel is a second independent S/PDIF audio stream not related to the Embedded Audio. A separate S/PDIF matrix switch manages Stereo PCM, 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS, and various other formats.

The forward audio channel is a second independent S/PDIF audio stream not related to the embedded audio. A separate S/PDIF matrix switch manages Stereo PCM, 5.1 Dolby Digital, DTS and even 7.1 audio formats.

Examples:

  • You have a set-top box that outputs the HDMI video and audio. The same set-top box outputs the audio with a different language on it’s S/ PDIF audio output. This box is connected to the 25G Hybrid network. Different customers can listen to the same content in different languages in different rooms.
  • A media server is connected to the 25G Hybrid network inside the server room along with CD players and other equipment. The LCD displays are located in the demonstration rooms. On a certain display the picture may come from the media server, but the sound from the CD player.
