Introducing the New DisplayPort Compatible MX2 variants

Lightware is delighted to announce the arrival of four new members to the MX2 series as a proof of pioneering innovation in the field of DisplayPort compatible, standalone matrix switchers.

Unlocking New Possibilities in DisplayPort Connectivity

Despite the constantly growing demand for DisplayPort compatible, standalone matrices with substantial crosspoint sizes on both in and output sides, no AV manufacturer has been able to provide viable solutions to the market… Until now.

Lightware’s uncompromised dedication to develop world-first devices way ahead of our competitors came to a fruition in the form of four new variants to the widely acclaimed MX2 series, all focused on unlocking new possibilities in the application of DisplayPort connectivity

Familiar Features in Unprecedented Editions

The new MX2 variants are loyal to their roots and support uncompressed signal extension capability with a maximum resolution of 4K UHD@60Hz on RGB 4:4:4 color space even at 10-bit color depth, are compliant with HDCP 1.4 and 2.2, and support HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision standards.

Furthermore, a vast array of Lightware’s unique developments are also featured under their hoods, such as Advanced EDID Management and Pixel Accurate Reclocking as well as the widely renowned diagnostics and troubleshooting tools.

DisplayPort Parameters are displayed in unprecedented detail and also allow adjustment in various aspects such as link data rate and link lane count. Plus, the Restart Link Training feature allows users to reset link training within the software to ensure correct link profiling, without the need to physically unplug/re-plug a device, thus saving time and energy for the operator.

Beyond the familiar MX2 features each of the new variants bring something special to the table and further expand the possibilities offered by our standalone matrix range.

The World’s First DisplayPort I/O Standalone Matrices

Following its debut during the InfoComm 2019 in Orlando, Florida, the largest member of the MX2 family has quickly drawn the attention of industry professionals from all around the world, being the globe’s first standalone matrix offering full DisplayPort connectivity on an unprecedented 48x48 crosspoint size.

The excitement and interest surrounding the announcement of this world-leading innovation was clearly echoed around the presentation of the two smaller variants with 24x24 and 8x8 crosspoint sizes, both offering the same level of functionality and exceptional results in AV operations.

Sophisticated DisplayPort Signal Management

All these new devices offer sophisticated signal management to handle source signals from DisplayPort inputs.

For signals that exceed the 18 Gbps maximum data rate of the HDMI 2.0 standard, the devices present the user with two options to choose from, either to convert the signal from 4:4:4 to 4:2:2 color space whilst preserving 10-bit color depth for HDR experience, or, by turning the 10-bit color depth into 8-bit and maintaining 4:4:4 color space.

This unique feature makes the new MX2 variants unrivalled in their kind, since no other AV manufacturer’s matrices offer such flexibility when it comes DisplayPort signal management.

HDMI 2.0 & DisplayPort 1.2 – The Best of Both Worlds

Last but not least, the MX2-48x48-DH-24-DPio-A-R variant also rocks the world of AV technology by offering a powerful mix of both HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 connectors in a symmetric, input/output layout, creating a balanced solution for a wide range of applications and completely eliminating the need for additional adaptors and dongles.

Audio Capabilities

The new MX2 variants doesn’t disappoint either when it comes to audio signal management, as all of these devices represent audio embedding and de-embedding features through dedicated audio ports as well as support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master standards.

The newly introduced MX2 standalone matrix variants play in a league of their own and leave no doubt about Lightware’s ability to constantly raise the bar in AV technology development in order to meet even the highest expectations of our industry.
